Council is progressing planning for a new roundabout at the intersection of Obley Street and Forbes Street in Yeoval, a key intersection on the regional road network used by local traffic, pedestrians and a high volume of heavy vehicles.
The project includes detailed surveying, geotechnical investigations, traffic management planning and the full design of the roundabout and associated works.
The roundabout is being designed to improve safety by reducing vehicle speeds, better defining the intersection, separating pedestrians from traffic and enabling heavy vehicles to move through the area safely. This responds directly to community concerns about vehicles approaching the intersection at speed or failing to recognise it.
The project is funded by Transport for NSW and managed by Council. The design will accommodate all permitted heavy vehicles while discouraging unsafe manoeuvres and shortcutting.
Council is mindful of the potential impacts during construction, particularly for nearby residents and businesses. Planning will focus on minimising disruption, maintaining pedestrian access where possible, and providing clear information about traffic detours and construction timing.
Approximately $1.7 million has been allocated to the project.
Council anticipates that community consultation will be undertaken prior to construction.

The Yeoval Roundabout project is progressing to the 50% design stage, with preliminary designs being prepared following site inspections, technical investigations and joint work between the design consultant and Council to inform the next phase of detailed design.
