Cabonne Council is committed to protecting your privacy. This statement explains how your personal information is handled when you use Council’s Have Your Say engagement platform, hosted by EngagementHQ.

Council’s privacy practices are governed by the NSW Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998.

What information do we collect?

When you visit or participate in Have Your Say, we may collect:

  • basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited

  • personal information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, suburb or postcode

  • feedback, comments, survey responses, or submissions you make as part of an engagement activity

Providing personal information is voluntary, unless stated otherwise.

How is your information used?

Your information is used to:

  • manage and run community engagement activities

  • understand community views and feedback

  • improve Council projects, services, and decision-making

  • contact you about the engagement activity, where relevant

Information may be analysed in an aggregated (non-identifiable) form for reporting purposes.

Public comments and submissions

Some feedback, comments, or submissions may be published on the Have Your Say website or included in Council reports. Personal information is generally removed or de-identified before publication unless you consent or disclosure is required by law.

Storage and security

The Have Your Say platform is managed by EngagementHQ, which stores data securely on Council’s behalf. Cabonne Council takes reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, or unauthorised access. Information is kept only as long as required and in line with Council’s record-keeping obligations.

Email updates

If you subscribe for updates, your email address will only be used to send you information about the projects you selected. You can unsubscribe at any time. Your details will not be used for any other purpose or shared without your consent.

Have Your Say may include links to external websites. Cabonne Council is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites.
