Council is progressing with the activation of the Eugowra CBD project, with civil design now nearing completion and the tender for construction works currently being advertised. The tender is scheduled to close on Wednesday, 5 August.

As part of the upgrade, the existing trees and raised garden beds along Nanima Street will be removed and replaced with new trees planted at ground level within a Stratavault system, improving flood resilience and long-term stability. An assessment of the current plantings found the existing trees have shallow root systems confined to raised beds, making them more vulnerable to wind and more easily dislodged if impacted by a vehicle. To improve safety and longevity, established trees will be used as replacements.

Scheduled for completion in May 2027, the project remains in the planning phase, with the civil design finalised and shared with the community and further planning work ongoing. Council acknowledges that construction will impact traffic and the CBD and will continue engaging with the community, business owners and primary producers to determine suitable timing for works, particularly around key seasonal activities such as harvest and sowing.

Following the close of the tender process, upcoming steps include the appointment of a contractor, development of a traffic management plan to accommodate agricultural machinery and the existing bus stop during construction, and continued consultation with local stakeholders to ensure the project meets community needs.
